Companies have the responsibility of insuring their site information is secure, especially if they are capturing customer information. Although that has to remain a priority, they also have to find ways to incorporate their social influence strategy in the mix. Perhaps a separate secure server is utilized for all social efforts. In a different aspect, education of their employees should be implemented to protect the company brand. The individual employees are an extension of the brand and need to conduct themselves appropriately in the social medium. Hiding from the medium is not the answer.

I find it interesting how big companies are torn between using social media while blocking it from the office. What are your thoughts on this?
